India : Ahmedabad still at war with dengue

Article via DNA India :

" City is still grappling with vector-borne diseases and the drop in temperature has not yet helped it curb the mosquito menace, as was expected. Two more cases were reported in Civil Hospital campus at Asarwa on Monday taking the total number of cases to 12 in past 2 days.

"Of a total 12 cases reported in the city, two are from a hostel located in Civil Hospital," said sources in the AMC health department. It should be noted that in September, 37 students were found to be afflicted by the dengue following which the students protested against the inhuman living condition in the hospital campus.

Though the number of cases have gone down, it is still far from respite. In December alone, 13 caseswere reported including one on Saturday, while more than 150 cases were registered in November. Moreover, 10 more cases of malaria falciparum (PF) also came to light on Sunday and Monday. Interestingly, the number of malaria Plasmodium Vivax (PV) cases has decreased drastically."
