Australia : Dengue fever fear spurs mosquito spray program

Via ABC News :

" The Health Department says yards in the Northern Territory town of Tennant Creek are being sprayed to get rid of a mosquito that can carry dengue fever.

Senior entomologist Peter Whelan says the infestation in the town, about 1,000 kilometres south of Darwin, is far worse than first thought.

He says three teams of specialists are going from house to house, and it will take them about five weeks to get through the town.

"Our survey is looking at every yard," he said.

"Taking samples out of water-holding receptacles indicates that there is a reasonable number of yards that are infested.

"It is going to be a very long process and we really need the co-operation of everybody in Tennant Creek to help."
