" In response to the recent influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Centre for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals. The HA spokesman today (February 16) announced that two newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases had been admitted to intensive care units, including a 53-year-old male patient at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and a 30-year-old male patient at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, who are both in critical condition. Both patients are under Tamiflu treatment and on ventilation support. The hospitals will continue to closely monitor their condition.
Furthermore, a 69-year-old male patient who had confirmed positive for influenza A and was staying at Queen Elizabeth Hospital with critical condition, succumbed on February 14 due to continued deterioration of clinical condition. The hospital expressed deep condolences to the patient's family."
