India : Four persons, including 2-yr-old, succumb to H1N1

" PUNE: Four more persons, including a two-year-old girl, succumbed to Influenza A H1N1, taking the toll in the city to 308 since August 2009.

According to state health officials, Ganesh Pille (37) of Juna Bazar, Khadki, died due to swine flu at Khadki cantonment hospital on August 1. He had developed fever, cough and breathlessness. Surekha Lodha (42) died at the KEM hospital on August 4. Lodha had fever, cough, sore throat and breathlessness since July 20. Two-year-old Hiya Agarwal of Pimpri died at the D Y Patil hospital on August 5. She had bouts of vomiting as well as fever, cough and cold since July 24. Sushma Hankare (19) of Sangli district died at the YCM hospital on August 5 and she was suffering from fever, cough, cold and breathlessness since July 22.

The number of people succumbing to the H1N1 virus since this April in the city has reached 97. Meanwhile, 34 people tested positive for swine flu on August 5. This means that the number of people infected since April is 971. The condition of 17 others is critical and they have been put on ventilator support, officials said."
